The Truckee River is the focus of an exhibit of landscape paintings by Mike Hess at the Metro Gallery at Reno City Hall. This exhibit, entitled "from Alpine Meadows to Alkali Flat" is the culmination of the artist's three-year effort. Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River and its bridges, and Reno are featured in the fourteen large landscape paintings executed in acrylic paint on canvas. The exhibit will run from May 14 to July 6, 2001. The Metro Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The Sierra Arts Foundation manages the Metro Gallery.

In addition to the Metro exhibit, Mike Hess will be the guest artist at the Artist Co-op Gallery of Reno in June and July. Other paintings by Hess are on display at the Mayberry Gallery, the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce and Joe Citta's State Farm Issurance office.
